Mentor

Mercy Mission mentors are professional individuals who volunteer to give back to their community by mentoring a refugee/migrant so they can successfully resettle in the UK.

Our mentors are trained by experienced youth workers to acquire the much-needed skills to successfully be competent in understanding the needs of migrants and refugee youth. With the benefactor being the mentee, the mentor program has been designed to make sure it has the most uplifting impact on them.

All our mentors go through a thorough recruitment process which includes full enhanced Disclosure and & Barring Service (DBS) checks, training on safeguarding and training on how to be a successful mentor.

Mentoring is a time-proven strategy back through proven research that can help young people of all circumstances achieve their potential. Mentors are caring individuals, who along with parents or guardians, providing young people with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and a constructive example.

Mentoring is not a one size fits all proposition. Every young person who would benefit from a mentoring relationship has individual needs. Effective mentoring programs offer enough flexibility to help meet each mentees personal needs. Yet allow mentoring relationships to flourish within a safe structure.
